Damaged
It's ten already and she can't believe how fast time has passed. She
has been waiting, checking her phone now and then in the hope that he will
arrive soon.
Practically, he's two hours late, but theoretically and
as per his explanations, they won't count. All she wants is to see him,
all she wants is just a hug and a goodbye kiss.
It's
been three months since she started dating him yet it feels like ten
years of hard labor. She has loved him too much to lose her own conscience.
She knows it will hurt, maybe too painfully, but she prefers the long
lonely nights filled with tears to the cold, menacing, mentally
disturbing ones when she doesn't know if or when he might come home.
She prefers the pain of loneliness to the pain of slaps and hard beating
she received for love.
If he failed to come, she will painfully
walk away, not towards the place they had called home, but away from it.
She may know no one else in this town but it will be alright, she
convinces herself sadly.
Then she sees him approaching, she can recognize him from miles. It's this walk of confidence that had
triggered an interest in knowing him in the first place. Her mind wavers
to that day when she saw him, but she quickly retracts, that's a no go
zone,or else she might change her mind, and fall in love all over again.
He's steps away and she has no clue how to react, so she just stands.
Her legs are too weak to carry her and her body is shaking profusely
from the freezing night air, she almost falls but he's quick to hold
her. Comfortably and lovingly like he had done in those days, when he
had really cared. She holds tightly to him and he rubs her back softly. She slowly opens her eyes and finds him staring.
'I'm sorry to have kept you waiting sweetheart," he mumbles and kisses her softly.
She can't let him go, she realizes. Her life might be a nightmare but for a single chance like this, she will fight through.
