They Never Say Good-bye

They Never Say Good-bye

A Poem by Genevieve Robinson McKibben

They Never Say Good-bye

There’s many, many reasons why

Our youngfolks never say good-bye,

To life and living on the farm

Where natural beauty holds such charm.

To share the thrill of spring’s sweet mirth

As warmth awakens God’s great earth.

And paints in green, across the land

With nature’s artful, “green thumb” hand.

To see the dawn salute the day

Above the wide and open way,

And view the sun as it descends

Beyond the fields and wooded bends.

To hear the voice of bees and bird

And cattle lowing with their herd.

To breathe an air of purity

In nature’s vast society.
