A Legacy No More

A Legacy No More

A Poem by Luther

Why when I hear you say 'I love you'

Will I sound a silent sigh?

Your mouth performs a pirouette,

But this is vacant in your eye.

When we embrace, I feel your flesh,

Scented, soft and warm,

But upon your beating heart, it's clear,

This legacy's no more.

When we lay awake in bed

You say you'd die for me,

But when you dream, you're like a bird

Struggling to be released.

Freedom is on its way to you,

To empty your domain.

I love you, so don't die for me,

Just place a rose upon my grave.
