Romeo's friend

I ask the mighty god above
Why must I watch as he destroys his love
His steel eyes fill with contempt at a girl’s loving devotion
Yet he cannot look away from the sun in motion

 

 

I have seen him watch her in the day

His eyes never able to stray

She is the only girl he will see

And not for delight but just to be

Her dance and smile catch his eye

Making him melt in her loving embrace

But he doesn't pay attention

Ignoring for often in mind is her face

 

I dread the endless night

That comes and wallows in his delight

For he sits upon a sturdy branch at her window
His heart clearly pounding as he clutches his shirt
It is called lovesickness, Romeo
And as you go on this way, the more it'll hurt
Touch the glass and break through
Do not hold back your hand and silence your voice
The consequences will be dire for your stubborn choice

 

I have heard her say, "I love you, Romeo"

She has said it behind your back and to your face

She allows nothing to stop her

As in your life she finds her rightful place

 

You are a morbid and dark soul, my friend

Always searching and awaiting your end

You could care less if you die

Finding disgust if for you we cry

But I know that this girl will give you life

Save you from your well-hidden strife

Notice her and take her from this prison

Let her love and you can see her smile every day

Do not stall and do not wait

Or soon from your reach she'll be taken away
