Memory

Memory

A Poem by MarieCo214
"

A quick work late at night. There's a theme and meaning, but that's for the reader's to find out.

"

Sitting here

a certain sickness that cannot be escaped...

Thinking away

all the wrongs come back to haunt this night...

Feeling empty

a mistake never forgotten tells all from a dark shack...

His eye peeked through the small hole in the old rotting wood of the abandoned shack. Hunger and insanity feasted on his fading mind, taking what little he had left of this world. He was turning into a beast, an animal. Those bright amber eyes of his where emotion is hollow and simple by the black void in his memory, they were once as bright as the sun's fire. Now, staring at her and frightening her to the pale exterior of a morbid ghost, those bright amber eyes burned with the flames that only death could brighten...

Too hot

a heart beats in rhythm to a clock that ticks for fate...

Head hurts

lungs throb for an effort to decide on fate...

Sleep calls

a broken scream caught in the throat that would end fate...

She ran as fast as she could through mud and rain, lightning and trees. Desperation and fear expelled in every torturous breath, one false move would end her life here and now. Her heart pleaded and cried, wishing for something truly known to be lost. The image haunted her, the memory chased after her in a new form. No longer could she recognize it, twisted and deformed to a malevolent monster. Now, chasing her and hearing her every whisper, he struggled for control, her innocent whispers and falling tears pulling at the mutating strings of his shattering heart...

A song plays

run, cry, hide, pray

A girl sings

tremble, scream, fight, escape

A lovely voice

fall, caught, scream, slap

Her note falters

threaten, beg, rip, break

Hands to throat

steal, destroy, realize, apologize

A bitter fear

deaf, broken, betrayed, destroyed

She remembers

she will remember

He forgot her...

so why does he see her?

She forgave him...

so why did she die?

Author's Note

MarieCo214
There's a reason for the appearance and how it's written, contributing to the meaning. This piece is actually open to interpretation. I just want to know what you think of it, what's your criticism, what you think it means, and does it affect you in any way. You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

Interesting play of words.

I love the form, very unique.

It was an argument in the rain, I feel like they are in the middle of the forest with gray skies. Something happened that angered him and made him run.

He has thus realized in regret of what he did.

the way you arranged your 1st and 3rd stanza makes me think of the "boy"
where he cannot hold on to his thoughts
and of the girl where shock makes her thoughts fall one after the other...

the two blocks of writing makes me think of a narration on the piece
something to add "meat" to it

the stanza directly after the 2nd block make me think of the girl running futher and further from the place
that is why the first halfs of the stanzas keep getting smaller and smalle
like the screams, voices, echos that are getting futher and further...
fainting slowly, also how life drains from the girl...

as for the last part, it makes me think of the girl dying and of the narrator not being able to speak because of sadness or because the narrator is in shock

that is what i got/think about the arrangements of the piece
but perhaps i got it wrong...or not as what you thought of when you wrote the piece
it also kind of make me think of a werewolf...
