Chapter 4: Can I give you a tour?

"

Who is the devil's daughter now? Will the mission what naturally drew them to each other or was it fate that pulled time together?

"

“Julia Ann Smith, come down now! It’s time to eat!”

Groggily, a young woman just out of her teens made her way from her second floor bedroom to the downstairs dining room. As she sat down at the table, she elbowed her little sister and whispered, “You were supposed to wake me up.”

Her little sister, recently having turned fifteen years old, gave her a sarcastic stare as she whispered back, “I did…four times. Don’t blame me if you sleep like a log. Maybe only mom’s voice can wake you up, cause you know, God is on her side.”

Not expecting her little sister’s last comment from an earlier inside joke, Julia hurriedly clapped a hand over her mouth, stopping herself from rudely bursting out laughing. Their mother raised an eyebrow at her, but shrugged it off as another part of their strange behaviors again. Right at that moment, Julia finally noticed that they had a guest. Going wide-eyed, her little sister started chuckling softly beside her.

Their guest was a young man, at least eight of nine years older than Julia. He was pretty with long smooth jet black hair tied back in a neat ponytail, kind yet firm brown eyes, skin so white and fair and smooth that any girl would’ve been jealous, and a tall yet thin body. Looking official, he wore what seemed to be an Armani suit. By this fact alone, Julia and her little sister could wager confidently that he was their aunts’ guest, which would explain why their mom hadn’t reprimanded Julia.

“Excuse me, Mrs. Smith, but may I inquire as to where your son is?”

“No, you may not, but if you wish to discuss something with that idiot, go look in the ghetto. You’ll find him there.”

Everyone was taken aback by Julia’s little sister’s rude remark. Not only did her little sister prize respect and strong moral conduct, she adored their older brother. Then again, lately, she had started showing a certain disdain for their brother, but never so outright as she had just now. Her family didn’t know what to do. They were too shocked to even reprimand her.

Sensing the high tension in everyone’s silence, Julia’s little sister stiffly got up from her seat, excused herself, and left the dining room. Behind her was a silence too awkward to be called, “awkward turtle”. Quietly, she walked swiftly to her room across the hall from Julia’s. Without paying any attention to the things around her, she closed the door behind her and sat at her large desk. Not moving or anything else, she thought about her brother, when it started, and why it happened.

“Why brother?”

Her name is Raye Elizabeth Smith, Julia’s proud and region renowned little sister. Most parents saw her as the perfect child. Her grades were all A’s in every one of her subjects, was always volunteering without having to, possessed a keen respect for seniority and maturity, and was just so lovable to everyone. Unlike most kids her age, her morals are strict, respectful, and nonjudgmental. She’s fair, generous, friendly, and willing to give people a chance. Upon judging a person, when she feels she needs to, she always bases it on that person’s first impression and final impression, whenever that may be.

Raye didn’t resemble either of her parents like Julia did. Instead, she often asked if she was adopted. Only when people saw her brother did they know that she wasn’t. Both Raye and her brother had naturally crimson red hair the color of blood, gold-tinted white skin that seemed like a snow white cup sprayed with gold at the rim, and bright amber eyes with specks of red that resembled like that of albinos. The two were both strong, fast, agile with bodily structures that deceived everyone of what they were capable of.

Knowing Julia often hated her spotlight, Raye usually tried as much as she could to tone it down. It wasn’t her fault that she had an unusual beauty, that she could outrun the fastest of horses, that she was much stronger than the common man, and that her morals were so refined, people respected her for them. Everything about her and their brother was all natural. Being any other way, they wouldn’t be them anymore.

Thinking on it, Raye thought of Julia’s appearance as she was quite pretty in her own right as well. Julia was as thin, petite-sized, and yet taller than Raye. She had light green eyes like their mother, ultra light brown skin, long curling golden dark brown hair, and curves as perfect to her body as Raye and their mother’s. Most often, Julia wore business attire or semi-formal clothes high in fashion. The only unjustified flaw of Julia’s was that she smoked sparingly. Anytime, if she so wanted, she could stop, but she didn’t.

Though Julia smoked, Raye usually preferred her company to everyone else’s, even theor brother as of late. Julia didn’t have the smell of a smoker, but it was still against Raye’s morals. Smoking was bad for a person’s health, except she couldn’t get her sister to stop. Julia just didn’t know that Raye knew the reason she smoked. The only reason that Julia smoked any at all was because of Raye and only Raye.

Deciding it better to keep her mind off it, Raye turned to her computer and looked up her school website. Everything was old, except for one announcement meant for the senior class. There was going to be a new student and no surprise, Raye Smith was his “tour guide”.
