Chapter 2: The Son

Who is the son of God now? Does God know the danger towards his son?

"

He was the current pope and his name was John Stine. Today, six years ago, John Stine’s grandson was born. For his birthday, Pope Stine has brought his grandson by his request to meet all the church officials that he could possibly gather in the last week. The grandson of Pope Stine, Marcus Varick, was known well throughout the world, known as the Pope’s proud Christian son.

All of the men and women of the Christian hierarchy were glad to meet Marcus. He is a very knowledgeable boy, but how much would shock the very foundation of the Christian world. Marcus possessed an extensive knowledge of the bible and scriptures that they didn’t even have until towards the end of their training. It was in this way that Pope Stine had come to realize who exactly his grandson really was, reborn and known well in all of his heavenly glory.

Still, though he knew, he had to confirm it and with how much his grandson seemed to know, his grandson would know. That night, on the third day of the celebration of Pope Stine’s grandson’s birthday, he decided he would talk to his grandson and gain confirmation to his suspicions. First though, he noticed four strange entities in dark robes following his grandson around.

“You four, who are you?”

The four robed figures that had been tailing the pope’s grandson stopped and faced him. Though he was old, Pope Stine wasn’t so old that he appeared meek and aged. On the contrary, he stood firm and was going strong in his slightly old life. Calm, the four met his question with silence.

Keeping his composure, the pope stated without any apparent anger of irritation, “I am sorry, but you have been following my grandson around all day and that frightens me. Verify to me that you are no threat or I will have to have my guards escort you out.”

The four were surprised at his calm polite demeanor, yet they still gave no answer. Once he realized that they weren’t going to answer, Pope Stine inwardly sighed and said, “Since you’re not going to answer me, I’m sorry, but my guards-.”

“Grandfather, do not send them away. I know them.”

Marcus walked up to Pope Stine’s side and his clear light brown eyes locked gazes with his grandfather’s dark brown aged eyes. Giving in, Pope Stine’s tension melted away and he replied, “Very well, but you will explain this to me later.”

Slowly, a soft smile spread on the lips of the little boy’s face and he nodded…

Later on, when everyone had gone to bed, Pope Stine took his grandson and the four robed figures to a nearby café to talk. The café had just closed, but the owner was a good friend of the family’s and let them in the moment she saw it was them. Once inside, they were safe to talk without being heard.

“Marcus, who are you?”

Pope Stine and his grandson sat across from each other at a booth, while the four robed figures spread out and settled around them. Two of the men sat down at a booth as they laid their heads on the table, the other man leaned on an arm of the booth behind Pope Stine, and the one who was woman laid down on the floor behind Marcus.

“I am who I have always been. I am Marcus Neil Varick, but once, before this life, I was the one you know as Jesus the Christ, the son of God. My father, creator of heaven and earth, has guided me to rebirth with a mission. These four are my father’s loyal servants and my guardians on my mission.”

Nodding his head, Pope Stine smiled lightly and said, “I see…and may I ask what this mission is?”

Reluctant, Marcus stared at his grandfather and answered, “My father has sent me here…to find the devil’s daughter.”

Instantly alarmed, Pope Stine sharply questioned in disbelief, “The devil’s daughter?! The devil actually has a daughter?”

Calm, Marcus nodded once before adding, “Yes, a mortal like me. As I am surrounded often by the angels of y father, she is surrounded often by the demons of hers.”

Stunned by the sudden news, Pope Stine asked somewhat subconsciously, “What does the Lord want with her?”

Startling him, Marcus plainly answered, “The devil has committed too many wrongs for too long a time. With his last heinous crime, my father sees that it is time to punish him and end this feud at once.”

“Punish the devil?”

“Yes, my father will right his wrongs and correct him. The only way is to hurt him and the only way to hurt the devil is by one way…through his daughter. That is my mission.”

Considering his answer, Pope Stine took a few moments and then asked, “ What will you do to her?”

Undisturbed by his question, Marcus replied, “I cannot tell you, though must not worry. She will not be harmed.”

Concentrating, Pope Stine questioned with open consideration, “Where is she?”

“We don’t know.”

“What does she look like?”

“We don’t know.”

“What is her name?”

“We do not-.”

“Do you know anything about her?”

“Barely; only that as the daughter of the devil, demons which we alone can see surround her.”

Shaking his head, Pope Stine stated simply, “So nothing.”

A bit slouched over and his eyes directed at the table, Marcus merely remarked, “Yes.”

First looking to each of the four figures and then to his young grandson, Pope Stine asked in a plain considerate manner, “How will you find her? This is a vast world with many people.”

Letting out a sigh that deceived his young stature, Marcus replied knowingly, “You are right. There are many people, yet she will be different. As demons surround her and as she is the devil’s daughter, she will produce a life force that I can sense, no matter where I am in the world. As of yet though, I cannot sense her clearly.”

Suddenly smiling, Pope Stine responded, “Then I shall assist you. We will find her together.”

“Thank you.”

“There is no need for thanks. You are my grandson and the son of God. It is my honor and my pleasure to be of air to you…So am I to assume that from what you had told me, she isn’t born yet?”

Shaking his head, Marcus replied sadly, “No…she was born three years ago.”
