Chapter 2

Knight in Black

"Had fun last night?" Chris laughed as Eclipse yawned, taking a seat. She glared at him. He only shook his head walks over to another table full of men. Watching him leave she rolled her shoulders. They cracked and popped. She rolled up her sleeves letting her scars breath. "Can I take your order now?"

"Two pork chops, extra gravy and some water won't hurt." She said looking at the table to her left. The men stared  with fake grins on their unshaved faces. "Don't be too long." She smile at them and looked at Chris before he could disappear into the back kitchen. The sound of mindless chatter filled the dinner, as the smell of 'well' of cooked food hunted the air. The only thing on Eclipse's mind was where is she going to get her next job.

The images of the last night rushed in her head. The wife falling out of love with the man that father her only daughter and having a assassin kill him in the cold night. She didn't want to hurt the girl, but she couldn't let the lady go feeling like she won. It was sad that must of the jobs she gets is having her to kill someone who is hated my their family or loved one. It didn't make her stop killing though. It was good money and she needed the money where she was going.

Soon Chris came back with her plate. It steamed with heat as she placed it down. "Did the guys mess with you?"

"Naa," she said, starting to eat. "But I'm guessing they'll say something before I leave."

"When are you leaving for the City Vola?" He whispered as he toke a seat across from her.

She finished a pork chop before answering. "Tonight. I'll get some jobs there and come back for your meat."

He smiled, "Am I only good for my pork chops?"

"Maybe," she joked taking the final bite of the last pork chops. "I just know that some people are really mean in the city. Go where the hate goes."

"Just come back whole, okay?" Chris's tone fell. "Not every assassin gets to see the lights."

Eclipse stared at him for a moment. "Shut up. Don't say that I'm like every other assassin.'

"I'm just saying, Eclipse." He sighed. "Most people take matters into their own hand."

Before she could snap at him about being too protective. The dinner gets quite and still. Eclipse looks at the door. The man was well aired, Head-to-toe. Many people stopped breathing knowing where's the guy's from. "Silver Guards," Chris whispered as some cooks came out to see what was going on. The man looked around the small room studied the fearful look on everyone's face. Then he stopped at Eclipse. They locked eyes and stared, daring each other to look away.

"Eclipse?' He asked.

"Do you really want to know?" She hissed, not welcoming him.

He grinned. "I heard you do jobs for a price."

She looked him up and down. "I guess you heard right. What kind of job is it?"
