Kammi's P.O.V. I had been waiting for over half an hour, no service. I mean no service at all, the girl that seated me gave me my menu and no one had come since to take my order. The place wasn't even busy. Guess I'll just come back later. I was getting up to leave when someone came over. "Hello, may I take your order?" "No. I was just leaving" I said as I reached for and grabbed my bag. "Come on! stay!" He said flirtiously. I gave him a look of disgust. Pervert. I looked at his name tag. Ray Jones... I'll remember that name and keep an eye out for him in case I see him in a dark ally ready to rape someone. "No!" I hissed at him, I pushed him out of my way and walked to the door. Manwhore. My old school was filled with them. It didn't matter that I was the geeky loner, I still had to deal with them, they all just look for the easy fresh meat. Plus, I chose to be the geeky loner because I didn't want to get sucked into the popular plastic life. When saying 'geeky loner' most people would think I meant that I was ugly, I wouldn't say that. I considered myself somewhat pretty. Like I said before I have short, shoulder length brunette hair in the style of a bob. My eyes are Dark chocolate brown, so dark they are almost black. My skin is normal, I wouldn't say I’m tanned, and I wouldn't say I’m pale. I'm only the geeky loner for interests and by choice. I was just weird. I love art, it my life. I love reading, I am a straight A student. I also take a lot of interest in figure skating. I am really good. All that and I am weird? What is a person supposed to do in this day and age. “No, no, it was my fault. I wasn’t looking. I haven’t seen you around her before. My name is Ian, Ian Don” He said smiling as he helped me up. “I’m new here, just moved back from New York. My name is Kammi Brennan,” I said getting up. This guy seemed nice enough, better then most jerks I had met. “Oh cool, what school you going to?” “I’m going to River Bend high, grade ten… I’m fifteen and in a little over two month, sixteen” I said with a small laugh. “Oh cool, same here, except I’m already sixteen” He laughed. “Well I better get going, so I guess I’ll see you in a few days at school” “Yeah I guess I’ll see you then, bye,” He said walking off. “Yeah bye” I said as I headed back towards the house, with both the dog food and supplies. I walked down the pathway the came out just a few streets away from my house. It was a simple short cut that I memorized from when I was a child. I would always sneak away from the house to go to the restaurant. Then my parents would be running around wondering where the hell I was. I was always hiding out back of the restaurant where the owner would bring me out some snacks. Eventually my adopted parents got to the point of not letting me leave the house without holding their hand. That didn’t last long. It was still so easy for me to escape. Connor’s P.O.V. “Connor? Are you all right? You weren’t supposed to be back from work for another few hours.” I looked over to see Riley. Riley was my ‘sister’ per say. She really wasn’t. I was only related to my two brothers, and the parents. Then there’s Riley and Rosie, we just found the two of them later on. It’s a long family story… and it always un winds itself to show. Riley is younger then me by quite a few hundred years. She’s sweet and only sixteen and probably the biggest worrywart ever, despite the fact that she and all of us are vampires. “I’m fine!” I hissed. She opened the door to my room and walked in. “You don’t sound or act fine,” She said standing in the middle of the room facing me. Riley was on the shorter side height. Her skin was paler then mine and it hade more of a porcelain glow to it. Her eyes were ruby red whereas the rest of our eyes are tainted with black, like a dirty red. Her hair was long, to the mid of her back and it curled and spiralled, almost like a neat tangle mess. He hair colour was a dead brown, but being dead does that to your hair. She was seen as beautiful, and truth be told she was. At first she liked me but showing no interest she moved on. I felt bad for Riley… she was weaker then the rest of us, and her story is tragic. “It’s nothing…” I responded looking away. “You’re lying” She responded. Just then everyone else came up stairs to my room. Great, the whole group is here. “Were not stupid we all know something’s wrong” That was my older brother, Sam. I was the one who changed him. “Don’t hide things from us, you know we’ll find out one way or another” My Mother said. I changed her and my father too. Accepting defeat and sitting up ion my bed and sighing I responded to them all. “Something happened to me at work today” “Well we figured that out stupid!” Rosie scoffed bitterly. But that’s just Rosie. She’s a b***h. “Shut up Rosie!” I really hated her, especially because of some of the things she had done. “Rosie! Please. Connor, continue” My father urged. “Something came over me… I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t move. I stuttered in my speech. The feeling was unbearable, I felt like I couldn’t control myself, like I would jump up and attack everyone…” My parent looked at each other for what felt like an hour. Everyone sat around looking back and forth from my parents and me. We were all becoming worried. If this happened to me… It would happen to them. “Um… we think we know what’s going on… There’s something we have to show you all…” My mother said nervously. © 2009 Katrina May McAlpine MacKenzieAuthor's Note
