Kristi’s P.O.V.

Lily Heart had called me as she was driving towards their new house. She noted that Kammi wouldn’t suspect the unusual phone call because she was drifting asleep, I could hear the low rumble of their vehicle as Lily took a pause to look at Kammi.

After hanging up, I walked up the spiraling stair case to my master bedroom. The house was quiet; I glanced down the hall to see Carrie lying on the floor in her dog form. I chuckled to myself. I turned my attention back to the slightly agar door of my room. You would think that after being here for thirty-five years, and un-noticed, I would get tired of it. No. Each room was dressed up elegantly with antiques from different dynasties and centuries. My room was decorated in gold and lace; it looked as though it was something that came out of a Victorian age. The wooden furniture was a shinning cherry wood.  The dimly lit lamp on the bedside table sent sparkles to each of the walls from the small topaz gems dangling from the ends.

I sat on the edge of the king sized bed. The golden laced comforter wrinkle as my body flopped itself down. Only seconds there before I got up and walked to the large cherry wood desk. I opened the top drawer. I shuffled through a small pile of documents, all to keep myself and others hidden, both legally and possibly illegally. Underneath them all was stored a small date book. From only important dates from my life, beginning in 1367 to a few months from now, then I would start a new one. I flipped over to a previous date from about twenty five years ago. January fourth 1984. The day I brought back Maria Smith. It was clear as day in my memory, the feeling of excitement just before I brought the jar to the room.  I felt calm each moment I worked the only gift brought unto me. It became a natural feeling, natural like sleep.

I am a summoner, I watch and take care of the dead. Summoners are like a branch of witches, we were created by them to watch over the dead and in time of need to bring them back, but only witches had the final decisions on whether or not the once dead, but now partly living, could stay in this world and re-live their life.

A few more moments passed. I walked back down the spiraling staircase, grabbed my jean jacket, keys, and cell phone then headed out the front door hoping to get to Lily’s and Kammi’s new house to talk to Lily, also with hope Kammi might of gone out.

I headed out the door. I looked up at the sky. I’d say it was about four in the afternoon. I stuck my hands in my pockets and put my face down looking at the road. The heels from my boots made small clanking sounds. I could hear the small dinging, clunky sound from the boots zipper bouncing from each step.  The slight breeze blew my blonde wavy hair back. I blinked a few times.

I stopped and stood about thirty to fifty meters away from Lily and Kammi’s house. Kammi walked around the side. For awhile she was looking down at her feet, but as she came around the corner she looked up and glanced around at the new street. At first she did not notice me, but after her watchful eye passed me and shot back she seemed to be in a trace like state as her body froze and she looked over at me. I stood for a few minutes just questioning.

How does she recognize me? She shouldn’t remember me. Not one bit. Something must have triggered. Why would she remember me? I only chose to ponder the subject later.

As Kammi still stood watching me, Lily realized something was off. She looked down and saw me. Raising an eye brow as her arms became limp from the weight of the heavy boxes. Kammi was still standing in the mesmerized form she stood not too long ago.

Sighing I walked back towards my house. Kammi shouldn’t have realized who I was… Unless she was remembering. As the Five Fates had said she might.

Shortly after walking in, there stood the ever so faithful, Carrie. Carrie stood there with her arms crossed, strumming her finger on her arm.

“What?” I asked taking off my jacket.

“Where were you? Someone could of broken in and what would of happened?”

“You’re the one that can change into the lion so don’t look at me” I laughed.

“Whatever, where were you though?” She asked following me into the kitchen. I grabbed a can of diet coke.

“Kammi and Lily arrived today. I went to go talk to Lily but Kammi was there, she happened to notice me.”

“OMG! What happened?” I looked at Carrie. I hated it when she went into the abbreviations of everything. Like the OMG’s and JK’s.

“She went into shock or something when she saw me… I would say remembering something? She was in a trance like state or something. I dunno” I said as I took a chug from the coke.

“Didn’t they say that maybe around January or Febuary she would start having strange dreams to help her get on the track of remembering, you know for the day she receives all memory and power back?”

“Yeah… I don’t know what event it was that took place with me in it… she shouldn’t be very far in remembering… It would have to be a more recent event...” I said sipping more coke then tipping to can further so it became another chug.

“How recent?” Carrie asked as she grabbed a rice cake from the cupboard.

“Um… they would have started with odd events of her childhood… after she was adopted of course. The maybe by now it would be more things that happened before she was born, or should I say re-born. She should be just starting to remember, or dream, of the things that happened before she died” I said shrugging

“So she’ll start to remember us wont she?”

“Probably” I said as I finished off the can. I looked over at Carrie who was licking her fingers off from the rice cake.

“You should probably go over and visit” I said leaning over the counter. She looked at me, confused.

“Huh?”

“As a dog. Remember!? You’re supposed to go over as a dog and watch over her when she is at home!”

“Right… “ She walked up the stairs. I could hear the small shuffle from her slippers as they hit each step. I waited a few seconds before she came down as a dog.

“Okay. Out you go.” I said as I opened the door.

Kammi’s P.O.V.

After we brought all the boxes in I decided to sit in the living room I decided to sit in the living room and watch some t.v. until I left for the Golden Dragon, it was my favorite restaurant as a child. I could wait to go out and eat myself. It would give me time to think about all the weird dreams I had been having. Sometimes random bursts of memory shot into me.

“Hey, what’cha up to?” My sister asked me plopping down onto the couch beside me.

“Nothing… just waiting a little bit before heading off to the Golden Dragon” I said smiling. I had told my sister as soon as we left New York that the first thing I was going to do was go eat at the Golden Dragon.

“Oh. Sounds fun. Do you have enough money?”

“Ye-“ I was about to tell her yes, and that I had already checked but I was interrupted by and clawing, and scratching against the front door.

“What the hell?” My sister and I both stood up as she said that. We walked over to the door. After only being a few steps away more scratching appeared. My sister opened the door and a dog came prancing in. I laughed to myself feeling stupid for feeling even slightly nervous.

“Aww! A puppy!!.... A female puppy.” She said in awe. I knelt down beside her and the puppy. I pet the dog soothingly which she seemed to like.

“What to name you” I said smiling.

“Willy. You know. Like Wilson but more fitting for a female” I looked over at my sister who was smiling at her idea for a name. I nodded in partial agreement. I looked at her and back to the dog.

“Um… I’m going to go eat now. I’ll pick up some dog stuff on my way home” I said as I stood up and grabbed my keys and headed out the door with my bag in hand.

Connor’s P.O.V.

I leaned against the back wall of the restaurant. The sounds of beating hearts rung in my ear. I stopped. No, I wasn’t hungry I fed yesterday. I could feel the change in my eyes. They were changing around, from a brown to a red then back to their natural brown. Though no one in this world cared if they were red, everyone just thought my family and I were the odd ones who wore red contacts.

I looked down to see a small group of girls enter, actually two small groups. Both I knew. One was a few I hang out with. Kristi Day, Maria White, and Meg Davis.

Kristi Day and Maria White were the Summoners in this town. Kristi had long flowing blonde hair that she enjoyed flipping when she felt successful. Her eyes are hazel. Maria was slightly opposite. Her hair was dyed a bright red, a color like blood. To clash with her hair she had natural emerald green eyes.

Meg Davis was one of few living angels. She was brought to life by Maria and once her purpose was served she was allowed a second chance at life. Very few receive that. The hardest part is that she can never see anyone she used to know again. Maria’s hair is platinum blonde, and her skin pale with rosy cheeks made her seemed as though she was dying.

Kuo Ching met them and took them to their seats. Kuo Ching came around right after… the incident. She was only young. A child at the age of two. Her parents were both of Asian descent both shape shifters. Because of their Chinese ancestors she only changed into things that fit their legends and stories. Kuo Ching’s hair was long and often straightened. It was black with orange, light brown, and dark brown streaks. Her side bangs covered her left eye. Her eyes were a light brown that could be seen as an odd colored orange.

The second group was one I would love to kill. Every last one of them. They would be considered as the ‘preps’ and ‘jocks’. Also the s***s and man w****s. The group consisted of Jenny Baker, Drew Harp, Lisa Baker, Chris Goldstead, Eric Right, Vanessa Gable, and Ian Don. Ian Don I could stand. He was a nice guy and wasn’t into all the s**t the others were. Jenny Baker and Lisa Baker were twins, who happened to get along and just love each other. Each of them both shared the hair considered perfect for a hair commercial. Their hair being a strawberry blonde always being pulled back high in a neat ponytail. The hair spiraled in the ponytail and curled. Jenny’s bangs went to the right and Lisa’s went back in a small puff. Last of the females would be Vanessa Gable, the ‘talented’ one. She does have a nice voice but no one truly believed she would become famous. Her hair is a light brunette with blonde highlights. Her eyes are a dark green.

Drew Harp is Jenny’s ex-boyfriend. They apparently ended on ‘good’ terms but everyone knew that Drew and Lisa had been getting together. Drew acted like a good guy, his hair often brushed off over to the side blonde with brown highlights. I laughed every time I saw him. Chris Goldstead is Drew’s Best friend. His hair ‘was’ brown but he enjoyed the monthly color change. It’s currently black. Next up, Eric Right. Eric was considered the ‘bad boy’ in their dumb little group. He had a few tattoos. I was shocked he was in their group. His hair was shaggy and black, he died the tips a dark blue. His eyes are haze.

They were each led off to different sections. Scoffing to myself I decided now was the better time as ever for my break. Kuo Ching had started to walk off in the same direction I was headed.

“Kuo, on your way out could you let them know I’m on break?”

“Yeah, sure” I’ll see you later then” She replied

“Yeah…” I walked out the back door and to the employee parking lot. I walked around a few steps and kicked around a small pebble. Over near the end of the parking lot by an area or trees was a bench. Sitting there and thinking was my favorite time of any given day. Sitting there was almost the only time I could feel happy or fine in the world where all is hell.

“Connor, their having a rush hour and want you back in there. They said you can have break later” I looked up Kuo Ching was exiting the back employee doors and heading to her car.

“Thanks… I’ll see you later” I said standing up.  I walked over to the bright red doors. I placed my hand and the door, just a light pull was all it needed. Sometimes I had forgotten and gave it a good hard pull and ended up ripping the door off. Luckily through all the years learning control was easy.

A simple pull and a few steps I was in. My head was ducked low until I had just reached the end of the kitchen. I gulped. My body shook, rapidly, it probably looked like I wasn’t moving at all. I could feel my body heat eccentrically. I felt my nose tingle and my eyes had a burning sensation.  I felt like time had stopped and my senses had focused on the one thing. The thing that felt murderous to me. I couldn’t focus on the aura that was attacking me. Strong, something I hadn’t felt in thousands of years… or even more.

“Yo, Connor, man you okay?” The voice snapped me back into reality. Ray Jones. Someone else who works here.

“N-no I d-don’t-“

“Look man, head home I’ll let them know you weren’t well” He pushed me towards the door, once out, I felt fine. What was that? Who was that. There was no way it could be who I even thought It was.
