A Mothers Sheild

A Mothers Sheild

A Poem by Anna Marie

Who was I to think I had all the answers
That I could fix what fate would have
One task, break a cycle generations in the making
Entitled and egotistically grasping at straws
Entering a contract only souls can make

Broken, yearning for purpose
Unseen was a path bumpy, windy, misty
Torn apart, in hopes of happy returns
Disease throughout the makeup of you, of me
The mountain to climb seemingly insurmountable

Together we fall, together we rise
I wont see it through to reckless demise
Breaking the chains of shackles forged in blood
Blood of ancestors that got lost along the way
Their Poison rapidly trails in our veins

Dropping the ego to blame, wielding the sword of faith
To battle we go, if only within our hearts
I’ll send you my shield of strength across the divide
Cracked and scared it may be but it does prevail
Reach for my gift, bestowed to me to now be yours

Fight today beside me child, let us hit our knees
At the alter of faith and goodness we will find
We will find our way through the mist
Back to one another we will come again
Our new dynamic will be unstoppable

On new ground we will see the sunrise again
Until the day we embrace once more
Look within and see the me in you
Ill take the hits, Ill take the blows-let me
Ive conquered much, and you will follow my path
To victory….in faith we fight, and in peace we will live
