Bambi's Legacy No. 1

Bambi's Legacy No. 1

A Poem by Anna Marie

There is a place in time your eyes twinkled just for mine

There was a heartbeat within me and the pitter patter of those before her in our midst

Every night was like lthe first on that futon in the corner collecting our memory

Music drew us closer and closer, the mountains brought us comfort

Dreams of Christmas trees and a big family

Moved to the city and the dreams changed

Now it was comfort of our own home and the potential around us

Growing in my belly was a fourth of us of you and me

Time goes on to football and ice cream nights

Daddy gets the seat and mama on the blanket with the babes

Tears fall from mamas eyes as its all on her to support the team

Daddy goes home and drowns in the beers he sought

Days and weeks slide by and mama wants to see his eyes twinkle

So she buys the wine on the shelf and drinks it all, he sees her Mama wants to be seen so every day she seeks the bottle

He reaches out to her when she's had it all and can't speak

In the night he reaches for his phone, no longer her body

She cries with back turned to him through the night

Shooting aliens for hours and laughter and song not enough

He needs her instead, curls and an escape from the zoo he lived

Wasn't long until the stick bled two lines again

Begging her he did to end it with an abortion

She wasn't happy but never thought of killing anything made from their love

She cried, she begged, she pleaded, she starved, she screamed

He blew it up, he wanted something woman couldn't give

Yet he still gave another baby to the ogre he called her, he proposed

To the woman he swore he was pretending with…

He swore he wanted something only a man could give him

Send me off the track, grab my heart, take my forgiveness

Understanding and forgiveness, something he never gave

She can't shake him, she can't stop loving the man that gave her the greatest gifts

A lover to be measured against, a lover to never be stopped

With his attention its entrancing and a fairy tale to be told

To be his is to be held by sex itself
