Failure

Failure

A Poem by Gefferin
"

A look into the effects of unrequited love

"

There I stand
For miles I see
Those Mistakes
That have haunted me
I came so close

And lost it all
And no one around
To see me fall
Unaware of the danger within
No more chips

But ready to cash in
The love you’ve taken
Cannot compare
To the pain I feel
‘Cause you’re not there

If you love something
You must set it free
So here I go
I’ll never be
I am but a man

A fool at best
You showed up in my life
Perhaps as a test
If this is true
I surely failed

I failed myself
More importantly you
I’m stuck here alone
Not sure what to do
I don’t think I’ll ever see that day

When I’ll be the one to take you away
So there I am
Lying in wait
With a lonely destiny
Hoping for a future

That could never be
It seems the only thing I can do
Is to keep reminding you
And PS:
I still love you

This might be the only poem Ive read that actually holds the concept of love being a test. If it is a religious test, or a personal test. Great piece here!
