Universal Truth

Universal Truth

A Poem by Gefferin

Burning bridges is never wise
When the fire can cut you down to size
A laugh here, a laugh there
Cannot atone for the wear and tear
Poison words flow like waterfalls anew
And I know that you haven’t a clue
Or premonition of what I have to do
You may think in it is funny
You may think it is fine
But you will not be laughing
When you pay the fine
One thing I have been taught
Is something I always knew
Life goes on
With or without you
