Life will be what you make it

Life will be what you make it

A Poem by Gee
"

A life shaped, not haunted, by the past

"
The 1960's...

The early years a blur on a one parent street where abandonment the father In most homes.

Chaos and noise, so much noise,
were the backdrop to a realisation,
understanding, that life was never going to be fair,
would only ever be shaped by hard work
and a determination to succeed.
A determination fuelled by kids homes, foster homes
and watching a mother work til she dropped,
multiple jobs worked to clothe and feed 7 hungry,
and at the time not appreciative, feral mouths.

Aged 62(and a half)

Fast forward 60 years and the feral mouth looks back,
not with self pity, anger or regret,
but with a smile at all that went before.
A work ethic inherited from a "never throw in the towel" mother
has given him a good life, a comfortable living.
The fates have blessed him with a beautiful wife and child
and true friends, friends that never need asking,
and as he speeds towards his final destination
he is happy with his lot,
as he has much, much, more than many
for he has love and contentment in his life...

Merry Christmas to all at the cafe

Merry Christmas dear Gee.
"The fates have blessed him with a beautiful wife and child
and true friends, friends that never need asking,
and as he speeds towards his final destination
he is happy with his lot,
as he has much, much, more than many
for he has love and contentment in his life..."
The above lines. So wonderful my dear friend. I have old photos. Reminders of the people who taught us how to live. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

And to you and yours Gee.
They just don't make people like they used to, do they?
Mams that could stir a pot with one hand, while holding the youngest and answering the door, while spitting out washing pegs like rivets and never losing a step until they are all asleep, where she can sigh before it starts all again the next day.
No wonder we won the war. The Gerries knew better than to answer back to the women!
