Death be the wreath adorning each door

Death be the wreath adorning each door

A Poem by Gee
"

When will the madness cease

"
Sung to the tune of "my favourite things"

Missiles smash cities and bombs wreck each village
convicts conscripted to rape, murder, pillage,
Putin determined the world be at war
death be the wreath adorning each door.
Mothers mourn husband's, sons soon they follow
when the carnage is over, a victory so hollow
no-one will celebrate Christmas at war
death be the wreath adorning each door.
Grave diggers so busy as cemeteries filling
no sign of ceasefire, no end to the killing
Santa won't visit while nations at war
death be the wreath adorning each door.
When the bombs blast
when the guns fire
when more lives are no more
misery, heartbreak in each grieving home
with wreaths still adorning....each door

MERRY XMAS FOLKS!!

Good morning.
A belated thank you :)
Light? Maybe I'll fead it by the light of the burning cities. Wow!! So creative Wierd Al would be proud. You have it down to the beat and it is so seasonal. Great timing either way. Loved it

Had that very first war been a failure, would Mankind have lived in eternal peace?

Had that very first war been a success ...................................................

Like many outcomes stemming from times immemorial, murder in any guise was
inevitable because as some bright spark (remind me, please) said, 'Peace is boring.
Who wants to work, garden, picnic or swim all the time? That is as cynical as I can be.

Your words can start a debate if only people discussed it - peacefully, Gee

Provoking poetry reminding us of the horrors of war. Are we in WWIII? The leaders we chose, the political systems we support, all have consequences. Does anything good ever come out of war? As someone fascinated by WWII and it’s impact, a generation of good found a way to over throw an evil power (Hitler) mostly led by a controversial, but very provocative man named Churchill. Will history repeat itself?

Thank you Senay, your visit is appreciated
A little darkness into each life must fall. It’s poem or song shows the state of the world and those who live in it.

Dear Gee
i couldn’t agree with you any more…. the carnage has to stop….and your words are strong, courageous and very meaningful….I just hope our near to be president doesn’t set the work on fire…Christmas is no fun when you are missing a family member…..pray for peace🙏

‘Tis the way of the world we are living in. Just when you think it can’t get any worse… Your poem is profound yet very cathartic. We might as well try to find a bit of light amidst all the darkness. I really like how you set it to the tune of “My Favorite Things”. It adds to the lightness. Well said Gee!
