An itch that must be scratched

An itch that must be scratched

A Poem by Gee
"

The need to write

"
I felt a sudden urge to write this morning,
why? God only knows, as I have no need to unburden,
no light bulb moment of inspiration on a season's change
or grief that needs to be attended to, addressed.
I have no internal or external dramas,
no vitriol, venom to spew forth,
I just have this niggling urge,
an itch that must be scratched,
thus these words written, quickly, but still with thought
and if the end result, to those that may or may not read,
has them saying, " why bother" then so be it,
I may even nod in agreement,
but one thing is for sure, I will not be clawing at my skin.

Gee
Sometimes, as writers(this term used very lightly in my case) an overwhelming urge to scribble descends upon us, not very often for me these days :)

lol, okay..
Sometimes we just write...no need for incentive or some issue...we just write poems using emotions from past incidents, love affairs, traumas...like actors do. And often, whether read or not, the poems are better than we might give ourselves credit...

I'm the same these days Gee and I blame Netflix!
Many a time I wonder if I should try writing something, but then I just think "maybe ill do it after the next episode" and carry on watching whatever has taken my fancy and turned it into an obsession.
Currently I'm on season 9 of stargate SG1 and before that it was all thirteen episodes of murder in paradise.
I even tried and failed to complete criminal minds, because there are only so many gruesome murders you can watch non stop, but they did take the wonder to "ach, why bother?" any time I picked up the pen and thought about using it.
If it wasn't for Vol's ravin' ink prompts, I'd have probably forgotten what a pen is!

really ejoyed this whimsical piece. non-serious and yet entertaining to read. the moral is, a writer has to write. one does not need to be angry or sad to create poetry. yet it is much easier when you do feel those strong emotions, ay? we can also write when we are joyful or in love. but again, it's not necessary. there is no such thing as a boring day and no such thing as a day you shouldn't work on your passion. so i'm glad you found some words to churn out today.

Thanks Ern, glad you approve.
Good morning Gee. You just have to scratch an itch don’t you? Sadly for me lately, there has been no itch. It’s as though the words have gone where once they were plentiful. I hope your writer’s itch stays with you. Good to read you this dull November morning. Hope all is good with you and the family in MJ. Have a super weekend.
