A very poor summer in to the UK, much water falling !
You should not be tired, not this year
for you have barely risen at all,
you have lazed whilst teeming skies of grey
washed this summer to the fall,
yet still you deem it right to leave
ceding warmth to wet and drear,
leaving all behind in your lazy wake
to mourn another sun less year.
A sunless summer is no fun for anyone
I'd like to think the sun is shining even
when it's not , your descriptives paint
a bleak dreary view with a lazy sun that
doesn't seem to cooperate..well penned
poem ..nicely rendered...
Experienced my first Summer in the UK this year, and yeah, you summarized it very well haha. Anyways, well written. It all flows nicely, and the last two lines are the perfect way to end it off.
I have heard from others that it has been like this most of the summer there.
So dreary not to see the sun...feels like not having love...dreary and gray when those we love won't stay.
YOu have said much in few words here.
Proof we don't need to write pages to pay our poetic wages.

Yep! It's been a summerless year indeed, but at least all the autumnal colours be pretty, before winter grinds our souls to Ash! 😃

This poem brought to mind Louis Armstrong singing "That lucky old sun" A great personification that puts a smile on my face. In its brevity it speaks vollumes. So nicely worded Lovely Gee

I think "she who must be obeyed" would enjoy your quick poem, Gee, as I would think, she too would like more sunshine. Goes to show you how much I know about the UK, I always thought that it was always rainy and overcast there. Here, in the "colony" across the pond, After almost 2 weeks of rain and gloom, we had our first day of sunshine (though only briefly) yesterday. But, today is supposed to be sunny!! Nicely written Gee. Hope your sun arrives soon!! Curt

Thank you Curt, here's hoping your weather brightens sooner rather than later
You have captured our almost sunless Summer superbly in this succinct and wonderful write, dear Gee. Like an artist, you sublimely painted the very mixed weather we received and sadly, it looks as though Autumn isn't going to be as sunny either as we had hoped for. But compared with the weather disasters other countries faced, we are truly lucky not to have experienced the same! I love this poem and thank you for sharing it, dear Gee. Lovely work!
