Meandering thoughts.

Meandering thoughts.

A Poem by Gee
"

Beyond 1/2 open blinds

"
06:36 Sunday 24th March

Through half open plantation blinds sliced light falls over a couch,
spills onto a rug, there lighting the ebony coat of a snoozing dog
whose dual purpose as pet and foot warmer appreciated
more than he will ever know.
Beyond the blinds between part lit autumn glow gables
a lone crow sits atop its terracotta perch,
an aesthetic chimney rising above a poorly laid ridge,
this perhaps a "Monday job" where the weekend, although it seems it had not,
excesses still being endured by a drink blinded roofer whose only care was not to,
this typical of the less discerning tradesman whose mantra "I ain't gotta live here"
trotted out daily, loudly to any that would listen, though few cared to.

06:38

Restless, Max the owner of the ebony coat moves
allowing cold air to puddle around my exposed ankles,
this breaking my gaze and ending my words,
bringing me back to now and thoughts of today
and what that may bring, even if this subconsciously known,
with wake, rise, do, sleep being the bedrock of my life,
this played on repeat, endlessly, unless interrupted by unexpected surprises,
these though seldom if ever occurring, with the last remembered in April 2019,
when a younger sibling arrived bearing news, the saddest news, that mum had passed.
With that thought I too stir, rise from my chair and head to the kitchen.

06:40

Coffee.

I appreciate the undercurrent of thoughts that we experience, even when the mind seems peaceful and at rest. In this poem, you bring out the suddenness of life and our subconscious fear of any bad news that almost always pops up like jack in the box. Yet, the poem also focuses on the here and now and the simple joy of a lulled and peaceful day. Pets are such a wonderful source of bliss and comfort! I loved this read, dear Gee.

All well dear Gee. Just going with the flow. Thanks :))
Amazing how our mind meanders when we sit relaxed in an armchair with just the company of our thoughts (and doggie if you have one). How those thoughts drift until something jolts us into action. Strong coffee needed when reminded of that dreadful day your mum passed Gee. So good to read you again. Hope all is well with you and yours in MK. Enjoy the sunshine my friend.

I love the doggy foot warmer. I enjoyed this poem. It was very relaxing in mood and content to read. It had a slight tone of discomfort that served to give it more solid substance and reality. You made me realize how many memories of great times in life are tinged with a certain degree of discomfort, summer sunburns; winter chills and great memories frozen in time or boiled down to their essence. Even our most heartbroken moments seem to hold meaning. I've felt the loss you speak of here. I was on a fishing trip when I got the news my mom had passed. Great work, F.

A lovely poem a set, seen through the window with a sliver of light, a cozty dog by your side keeping your feet warm, musing about what you can see from your vantage point... moments of flashbacks, a quiet day, until you find out that your mum passed away....heart-breaking news....
a very sad ending to this otherwise bright piece

There are times when news.. usually only only considered as words, hurt like hell and turn an active person into lifeless stone.

Not surprisingly, your writing here is - perhaps, the most heart-breaking, emotional poem you have written or I have read, Gee. It is a tribute to your creativity, both finely laid and because there is direct mention of your darling mum, is a beautifully sad poem. Your ream of words carried me back to a time..

Wishing you a gentle and kind Easter Sunday, sir. Please may a smile or few light you and your darlings' spirits.

I try to understand even though I might not know how someone else feels. Your thanks are always wa.. read more
and now I am remembering the call I got on that Tuesday...
and the coldness I felt at that moment.
Expected and yet still unexpected that life would move on without her in it.
