When my husk dries and bones yellow
a lichen covered stone will proclaim,
to those that stop to read,
that the man who was and is no more
was a father, husband, son, brother, uncle.
But more, so much more, he was loved...
In but a span of a few years, the mightiest of men fall and remembered no more. We are nothing and all that we have is our loved ones. To love and be loved is a blessing and a privilege not all have. Your poem reminds us to go back to the one and only thing that matters and to forget the rest.
Oh, I just love this succinct write, Gee. In my mind I could see pictures of the grave in a cemetery and it is just how I would like mine to be in time to come. I love that this beautiful Valentine is for somebody who is now in Spirit and loved beyond measure. I so agree that our love should be expressed each day we live and not just once a year. I love the final line...... "He was loved"... It is sooooooooo beautiful and speaks volumes to your reader, Gee. A privilege to read. I thank you for sharing. It has enriched my day to read of someone SO loved. Bless him! Bless you too for penning this beautiful tribute, Gee...
Hi Gee, hope you are doing well, it was like not i thought of you, you are looking more as caring i can feel when i read your writings, i saw them in those eyes and hands caring. no one is aged, its in your heart how you feel, i think it should be future, we celebrate each and evry day making people feel cared is all a loving daughter or a wife or a mother or a woman entirely through her life does, and man recognizes and rewards her as her lady.
jessy here,
with love,
take care of yourself and everyone too.
Very rare people understands the meaning of true love. You're correct love is all about falling in love with the same person every time and way more than 365 days! Your valentine is deep and wondrous to read in comparison to my valentine prose.
Beautiful! Love is everything. You have always known how to say that - without melodrama but with all your heart. Smiles and blessing for you and your darling ladies.
A lovely tribute to your father on Valentine's Day....seems like he was
renaissance man....and that he loved his family as much a you loved him....
