Attended the opening of a garden room that is dedicated to the memory of Deb Daly who passed away last August.
Sometimes we forget the sadness
notice not your empty chair
as popping corks and laughter
fill the celebratory air,
but when your name is mentioned
and tales of you relayed,
the light dims briefly in our eyes
and on lips sad smiles are played,
because popping corks and laughter
with you walked hand in hand,
into our hearts where love you left
like footprints in the sand.
Such a beautiful poem and great homage to someone who was dear to many. it's good to see the brighter side of someone who has passed than the sadness of their departure. Well done, Gee! Temp
At first there is only sorrow. Then somehow normality sneaks in until their memory shows up.

I just knew when you first mentioned her way back now that she was one hell of a woman .. this just reinforces that gut reaction I had back then .. and then some .. a splendid and fitting tribute to an obviously very dear departed friend, my friend ......................... Neville

This is relatable to all, definitely for me lately. I don’t know about changes cuz that’s up to you, I’m always changing mine, a word here and there, but the meaning is petfect
Too much clarity might ruin it, but then, again, a word or two might help. It is always up to the poet(s).

I guess because I write and post quickly, when an idea comes, the end product is a little rough around the edges. This one I would like to tidy up as If like to have it printed and hung in the garden room mentioned.
Thanks for giving your thoughts, much appreciated
Popping corks and laughter is all fun, but when a name is mentioned that brings sad thoughts, everything pauses for that one moment, an empty chair, and then silence and reflection on someone dear…..it happens, and memories come and go, but deep down they survive; back to popping corks!
Lovely Gee
Best to you

it is powerful and artistic as is Gee.... a life should be celebrated, how they affected us and the world around them.... but their passing is never easy to take, as they leave a hole in our hearts, filled only with memories..... I appreciate the way you have written this poem Gee....
Leave it be Gee. It needs nothing to be added. What you have said is enough to cover everything about her, her loss, how it impacts others and that time moves on. What an incredible lady she must have been. Happy Sunday.
