Early morning writing before work starts

A coffee cup that warms the hand
a pooch across his lap
the tick and tock of passing time
a single digit tap
that births the letters, words and verse
as poetry is born
whilst all sleep soundly in their beds
on an early summer morn'.

What a great time to pen your poetry, when all is asleep, and there is quiet in the house. Nothing like a good cuppa to warm your core and listen to the passage of time very slowly. I'm a night owl myself, when all is a slumber, and only I am awake to write; the only caveat is, your brain doesn't quiet down.

Whilst. I really hate that word. It's like people who use whom. Why use that word anymore? It's archaic. Let it die. Everything must die at some point. Whilst should be next. F****n 103 year old a*s grandpa word. Yeah you fought in the Civil war, but hey man, give the other boys in the lexicon a chance for glory. Otherwise, good stuff.
