Melancholia sits well with me
she is always at my side,
she is my pen and blackest ink
she is my dark hour bride,
a bride that will not censor me
will not invite the light
instead like me she'll glory in
the quiet, still of night,
when as all sleep we prowl and roam
through stones that proclaim death,
watched by the ravens beady eye
warmed by the reapers breath,
until the dawning of the day
until the sun is known,
until the page a tapestry
of poems freshly sewn...
Good morning my dear poet friend,
Sitting here with a nice cup of cappuccino, home brewed by Bob,,my husband, I am reading your poem..
Seems quite different from the ones I have read of yours..
Somewhat sad..could be thought of as depressing ... I guess..but I have never felt depressed myself so I am not feeling that way now. I love the line poetry fresh sewn ...also watched by the ravens beady eye..I see so many hidden meanings behind your words...behind the obvious..death...

This was written after a brief discussion about Edgar Allen Poe who wrote much dark poetry and was reported to have suffered with depression.
Thank you for reading and commenting, I have just been and read one of yours :))
Looking at the title I instantly thought of Durers Melancholia. But this is so much more empathic and reasoned than that visual puzzle. And for that reason I feel its meanings, a lot.

This piece was written after a brief chat with a fellow pen on here and a quick butchers at Google. I still am flattered when my peers visit, read and leave favourable reviews.
If only my hairy arsed building pals knew, they'd rip the piss out of me...mercilessly :))
Hope you are well Ken
Good morning Gee. I don't know why it happens that way but a death of a loved one does seem to attract the muse's attention. I seem to remember you saying that before. From what I have read of you, you do melancholia very well. All that raw emotion coming to the fire. Have a loveky day Gee.

the muse, melancholia , she perches on my shoulder like Poe's Raven...
when death happens, there is poetry on our tombstone...a life's worth.

Tapestry is so beautiful hon, I love it because it is brood,
Knowingly your fashion of a gal that is there for you,
writers fall in love with pens and pencils.
When I ride the bus, at times, I watch others,
nonwithstanding, I love readers, pens and readers,
the most alluring voice I could ever savor, Maynard
Shades of Mr. Poe here, especially that line about the beady eyed raven. I think melancholia was ever at his side, but he turned it to literary gold. Well paced and well rhymed, but I wouldn't read it if I was depressed, especially if there were sharp objects nearby.
