Pretty liars

Pretty liars

A Poem by Gee
"

Simple words on a false dawn

"
I asked the swaying daffodils
by whom they had been sent
I asked if spring their courier
they nodded in assent.

I asked the Apple blossom same
then snowdrops, bluebells too
they all said spring their courier
and that winter now was through.

So I took them at their floral word
believing all they said be true
but woke to find a world of white
"Oh what pretty liars you"

Cute! I really liked this poem. Nice rhymes and rhythm too. Spring can fool us quite often and your poem is a good example of that. Punchline was a kicker! Haha! So nicely done and a fun read. Thank you! Temp

Thank you for dropping in
This was very enjoyable verse. From opening word to last line, it flowed rather well. No sticking points anywhere. This seems simple on the face of it, but truly it is something everyone can enjoy and in that I find each stanza remarkable. CD

Oh I love this! The weather is so unpredictable. One day it's cold , the next days are warm. I guess that's the mystery of spring season right? My favourite line was
" but woke to find a world of white
"Oh what pretty liars you"
For some reason I thought of Karma. The flowers seemed to lie, spring was here, they said. Now snow fell and when it's cold, flowers die. That's what they got for lying. I enjoyed reading this, great work!

No worries, you are welcome!!
The weather where I live too is deceptive. One day it’s freezing, and the next it’s scorching hot. I love how you personified nature. It was also an easy read. Good work:)

So all things pointed to spring, the buds , the colors, BUT, the next day it snowed so are the blossoms to blame? Or spring? Who’s is lying here?.
Nice piece Gee… don’t worry we had a cold snap and all the daffodils wilted, so sad….hope the straighten up soon😊
Best
B.
