Pretty liars

Pretty liars

A Poem by Gee
"

Simple words on a false dawn

"
I asked the swaying daffodils
by whom they had been sent
I asked if spring their courier
they nodded in assent.

I asked the Apple blossom same
then snowdrops, bluebells too
they all said spring their courier
and that winter now was through.

So I took them at their floral word
believing all they said be true
but woke to find a world of white
"Oh what pretty liars you"

Hi Gee,
Searching through your poems to see if perhaps there might be one I have not read...but it appears I have read them all...
So...just a quick hello...
Lisa, still in Spain..dealing with a broken clavicle..

Hi Lisa, thank you. Apologies for the late reply. I hope your clavicle is now mended.
Haha. I love the playfulness of this poem. Nice job! I can really relate to it this time of year. We'll get patches of grass and walkable sidewalks, then bam. Another 12'-18' of snow. *smile cry face* One day the flowers won't lie to me.

That's lovely. I think we are having our third attempt at spring. The courier has delivered some magnificent snowdrops, and daffodils are starting to appear, and yet somehow things are beginning to freeze again.

I love the warmth of the poem as you chat to these flowers in a way which is so incredibly familial. However, I do believe that you are being harsh in your judgement, as weather forecasters are rarely correct in my experience ;D

Ah! Love this. What a sweet little rhyme, and reminder how tricky mother nature can be! Such pretty imagery with the "floral word". Love that phrase!

The weather is so whimsical nowadays.
Perhaps, the sweet things are as surprised as you.
There is so much to love about this poem.
It all works together to make it a most engaging read.

Most welcome Gee. :)
This is so very clever! Here in Alabama we have cold snaps followed by spells of balmy weather. Thus passes winter, and often things bloom when it is far too early. But flowers are only polite fibbers. That dang groundhog could give a politician lessons!
