13/08/21...Our dear friend Deb passed, the most bright and beautiful lady...forever summer in our hearts.
She left whilst pastel colours reigned
before autumn made it's bow,
to rest in peace beyond this world
in the heavens an angel now.
And with her went the summer sun
blue skies turned grey as lead,
a silence came upon the birds
each flower bowed its head,
a gentle breeze it stirred the air
and sorrowfully said
"still every hand on every clock
for she's gone, she's gone, she's dead..."
Loss rarely knocks or wipes its feet before calling and we are growing more and more accustomed to this reality of late Gee. The more years we gather ourselves, the more acute these feelings, already concentrating our losses into a collage of memories, replaying the moments that made them special to us, leading to thoughts of So many others now gone, leaving us reflecting on our own mortality and the quiet contemplation of who will be next, me? Will I be mourned or mourner?
The memories replay, bringing some comfort of at least knowing them, but knowing no new movie reels of the mind will be added to the collection of what they were to us and vice versa.
Your line of pain free gives you at least the comfort of knowing that, but never makes it easier. It's what we tell ourselves to get through.
Wonderful words and sorry for yet another loss.

Hope you are well and this year is a better one for us all :)

I hope her death was as easy as your poem reads. Somehow your words are comforting. You write about an intense aspect of life and somehow write it into something we could almost look forward to. Almost. Look forward to reading what you do with this.

Thank you William, her battle with cancer was brief and she kinda went out on her own terms
This one really brings home the pain of grief, especially the last two lines. I like the thought of transitioning to "pain free peace." It allays some of the dread of death.
"The soul wanders around the loved ones, taking care of us, smiling, kissing our faces like a gentle breeze, like the fragrance of beautiful flowers."
I truly feel the emotions here, a living connection & heartful of love.
I wish and hope wherever she is, happy and smiling looking upon you and family.
Much love,
Anu
