Nothing changes but everything has

Nothing changes but everything has

A Poem by Gee
"

Our beautiful friend Deb passed on 13/08/21 after her second, brief battle with cancer.

"
Nothing changes but everything has

In the grand scheme of things, in life,
nothing has really changed but everything has.
The sun still rises lighting eastern skies
then falls, ceding the heavens to a pallid moon,
tides ebb and flow, their calming shushing washing shingled shores,
fetching and carrying, fetching and carrying, fetching...
The tick and tock of time, relentless, moves forward
with seconds changing to minutes, to hours, days, weeks, months,
this passing of time ushering in the season's change,
summer into autumn, into winter, into spring,
the season of new life, rebirth, but not yours,
for you now sleep eternally, peacefully, somewhere beyond this life
in the arms of the angels.

We didn't send a card, couldn't find the words,
and what use tear stained ink to broken hearts anyway, what use.
Even now as this written, what words could do justice,
could explain the numbness, disbelief,
the feeling of loss at your sudden passing
and how sadly you are missed, will always be missed...

Is it peaceful up in heaven
have you angel wings to fly,
can you hear our veiled hearts beating
can you see the tears we cry.

Will you visit in the small hours
come sit and chat awhile,
reminisce about good times spent
upon our faces paint a smile.

And will you hold us in your angel heart
as we in ours hold you,
until the time we meet again
when our lives they too are through.

Deeply emotional words, Gee. I am sorry for your loss. May memories of Deb always be a blessing to you. This poem is heartfelt and while you think words do not comfort the grieving, I believe they would so appreciate this poem. Lydi**

Thank you Lydia
The opening of this poem hits real hard especially for those who have suffered loss. My deepest condolences dear author, and I do hope your friend is somewhere better, continuing the journey and is watching over you. Reading this made me very emotional, as I also lost my grandpa a couple of months ago. Sincerely hoping we will meet our loved ones on the other side.

I absolutely love the title , A beautiful poem I'm sure she will keep close to her heart in heaven . Heartfelt condolences for your loss . I can't fathom the losing of a loved one .

This makes me wish heaven had visiting hours , To always hold our loved one's hands and chat on the reminisced times . I hope you feel better and time and love heals you of this ache .

She loves it I’m sure
I believe the departed live a little come to life sort of I can’t explain it every time we shed a tear or think of them

breaks my heart, Gee ... feeling your deep loss ..we are never ready for it .. that's not one of the rules is it!? :( this is such an honest, vulnerable, plain speaking poem put so very well together says i! reading inspires me to remember those in my life i have lost .. and looking to my death wondering .. asking .. if perhaps the Good Lord would allow me one last farewell i might give to my children and grandchildren .. some way to let them know i still love them and that it's not over after all. ;) thanks for sharing .. this poem means a lot to me.

Yes, everything is the same and everything is different when someone we love dies. I like this stanza:
Is it peaceful up in heaven
have you angel wings to fly,
can you hear our veiled hearts beating
can you see the tears we cry.
I have wondered those very things about my loved ones who have passed, my two brothers and my husband.

Oh that's really sad.
I'm beginning to think/know everyone knows someone who's died of cancer. I've known about four people over many years that have. Their images don't disappear like they do. The laughter is still there in our memories. That's a good thing. This is a moving tribute, Gee.

Thank you Relic.
So much money thrown at a cure but sadly for many this not yet found
Everything changes, time moves, seasons change, tides ebb and flow, but one thing that stands still is death. And, your beautiful words to your loved one.... that can't be written but can be spoke....such tenderness is shown here, such heart felt emotions... that we'll never part even in death.... and speaking to that person is so human and shows much love.
Lovely

You're very welcome!
So sad but beautiful tribute to an obviously loved friend. We are lucky to have such. And they are still there in such memories. I truly believe that. These are not inadequate words. They are things of beauty.
