Dying is an art

Dying is an art

A Poem by Gee
"

Or so she said !

"
What of the mind so troubled
that lucidity all but gone
and the only sound drear, sombre notes
ne'er the cheerfulness of song.

What of the mind so troubled
that the future not a thought
and death is a friend whose companionship
every decade insanely sought.

What of the mind so troubled
that love leads only to death
and there finally peace in an angels arms
a full stop as a final breath...

miss Plath can do that to you good sir no doubt! we see what we seek my friend. In love life and even death, it always strikes me how the spectacles we wear make the spectacles we live

Enjoyed your review :)

Powerful stuff here. There is indeed a time to die. May we all be all right with it when that time comes.

Some, like Plath, are bent on self-destruction, but since I answered the suicide hotline for 2 years, I saw firsthand that most who are "suicidal" are really not. They just don't know how else to get someone to pay a little attention to them. I think people, in general, are starving for attention. I love your symbol of suicide as a lover . . . couldn't be more spot-on. The lover that's paying lots of attention (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I think it's that love thing, should come with a government health warning. You get in it, you get out it, and before you know it, you've called it a day.

So many times have i heard "I wish the good Lord would take me", it's a kind of prayer really i heard many times when working in residential care homes.
And the peaceful look when it's all over .... letting go is their relief and our grief.

dear Gee... Death will result in eternal light...
Will there be another Garden of Eden.
We will never know until we breathe our last breath.
I would surmise that our Spirit lives on... as long
as there are flowers and birds to give us a reason to rejoice.

Unless a person resurrected I guessed we'll never know.
Thank you Patricia
A beautiful thought Gee and felt the same when my Dad passed after too many years in and out of hospital. Whatever he saw in his last days took all fear from his face and let him go in peace. Whatever it was, I'm grateful for and if it helped him make sense of the SENSELESS, then maybe there is more reason than we know.

Glad you approve Neville. Cheers
Strangely, I cannot seriously contemplate a person who has never seriously contemplated his/her own death. And further, a grown person who hasn't seriously contemplated facilitating that end. That being said here I am at a ripe old age. How strange is that.
So, you have written something that caused one reviewer to say all that. Must be a good, or at least, provocative poem.

This afterPlath? Imagine a few Plaths with a few glasses of chardonnay? Lethal.
I think it is!! What kind of art is another thing. Some is the Jesus and baby painting , some is a Jackson pollack, and some may be a snuff flick.. All art in someone's eyes...lol. Seriously, this is a a pretty original thought I think, a comparison that I can see from many different angles. Love the pace and tone. Great piece all the way around!!
