The funeral

The funeral

A Poem by Gee
"

Sometimes it happens this way

"
She would go but no tears would fall,
her make-up would remain blemish free
unlike her memories of the man.
She had loved him, of course she had,
but that love disappeared with him,
not immediately but over time
like thick fog dissipating under a warming sun.
At first she would cry, ask repeatedly
" where's dad mum, when is he coming home"
but this too over time petered out
with mum becoming both, and everything,
the foundation upon which her life built.
Today though she would stand strong,
be the crutch for a woman that never stopped loving,
hoping...

Hello, Gee! :)
Half the kids in this site write about suicide. You may be pushing them toward the cliff with this but of sunshine. Haha

Honest, true and a emotional ride in the poem my dear friend. I know. Pain become more painful. Grasping the pain. Break our heart, over and over. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Drowning in grief is a luxury not all have ... It never ends , we just find ways to cope with it ..some things are inevitable but a lot of things depend on our own too hands ..an honest write . Keep safe.tyfs .

You have written the story of many people's lives . . . having a deadbeat parent & the other parent having to do it all. There are many reasons why I never had kids, but this is a biggee . . . I saw how hard it was on my 5 older sisters after becoming single moms. You use simple but impactful examples: "when is dad coming home?" You use artful sensory language: "like thick fog dissipating under a warming sun." Last but not least, you also include the all-too-familiar refrain of people acting out of a sense of obligation when their hearts aren't into a thing one bit (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

We know and remember people in such differing ways that sometimes we can't recognise the person from what others say. But Mums just cope and be the gentlest touch and the strongest shoulder to cry on, amongst the countless other things done unspoken, but filled with love.
Such a thought filled piece here Gee, showing all the facets each face make.

I have read this a few times and have seen something different each time.
I could see this as the funeral for a husband, father who left.
Figuratively he is dead...but eventually it becomes literal, and there are no tears left.
