An Empty Chair

An Empty Chair

A Poem by Gee
"

Who will you miss this Christmas

"
An Empty Chair.

The glimmer in the distance
the light at tunnels end
brings little joy or comfort
for hearts that need to mend.
And the hope now felt by many
will not ease the sad despair
nor will it stem the tears o'er festive days
at the sight of an empty chair..

Oh my Gordon that empty chair is so real... I see it so clearly.
I needed to go back into the many poems you have written to find one I had not read...
I really liked this poem.

Hi Gee,
A poignant poem, elegantly written,
brought home in a last-line straight to the heart.
Thanks,

A sonnet. mourning sunhine flirting is an ironic addition

For in this brutal turning tide
of history, it's just an empty chair.

Our surroundings, the things present or not present tell a story. I thought the premise of the empty chair was a powerful image. Facts are worth many descriptions.

You are a trained, studied and dedicated poet. Though you do not strain to prove it. Natural expression, human and tender. Who am I to rate this poem? I can say that I like it very much. sources of buying best chair:https://reclinershunt.com/

Your writing captured my holiday feelings perfectly.
I can dance around my thoughts but they are always there, just under the surface, when I see the empty chair.
Well done.

Merry Christmas my dear friend and you are welcome.
very pertinent statement on pain, loss and emptiness. I guess we're all in the same boat in that we've been scared into a kind of hibernation, where we are alone and unable to connect with our loved ones. Praying it will soon be over. Nicely done!

Hmm... Whenever I think of the people who have lost their lives and their near and dear ones, due to this pandemic an uncanny sorrow reeled in my heart. May be a vaccine will erase out the fear but it will not bring back the departed. It's really sad to think..

Very Deep. It is hard for a lot a people around the holidays when those they love, or loved are no longer there.
Good Work.
