Just three pieces, kindness, humour, warmth,
convinced her to begin,
to begin in 1991 to assemble,
slowly, carefully, lovingly,
the many, many parts that lay before her.
Gradually over many years
a picture began to take shape.
A picture of a man,
a man given confidence (by her love)
self belief (by her love)
self respect (by her love)
A man that opened his heart to true love,
accepted and adored another man's greatest gift
promising to love, cherish, protect.
A man that became a husband,
a father,
whole,
and eternally grateful that fate had them cross each others paths.
Now, after 28 years of marriage,
the jigsaw gets ever closer to completion,
although every now and again a piece,
a very small piece,
may come slightly loose
and will be pressed firmly, but with love,
back into place by the lady that is his rock, his world, his life.
This is the most touching & heartfelt thing I've ever read one person say about being loved by another! I mean, this is stunning. Despite no experience myself, I do believe that the best relationships improve us. You've illustrated this with such specific & believable details. I love this & how could anyone NOT love the person who wrote it? Thanks for sharing something so wondrous becuz lots of people never get to feel it quite like this (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

First of all, I really like the title it's what brought me to read the poem which was a very nice explanation of the title and it too held my attention to the end. Tyfs

This is a fantastic love poem...the pieces gradually fit...the puzzle takes years to complete...
sometimes putting it together stalls a little...but with persistence...there is a beautiful final product...
that two people can be so proud of.

Well, you have just gone and dun it haven't you, with this wonderful tribute to your love? You couldn't have said it any better. What a tribute to a lady who has tamed a.... lion.. wild dog... stubborn ox... grisly bear..... I'll leave some blanks so everyone else can leave their version. Happy anniversary if it is one, and I do hope you share these words with your Lady.
Nicely penned Gee. Take care now in your neck of the woods.

Well, what can I say but you nailed it Gee, you lucky, lucky sod... and you'll never forget it.
Would like to have been a fly on the wall in a pub the day before you met, thinking you had a plan and knew where life was heading.... And then you bumping into those folks at the bar years later and never being so happy at being so wrong.
And the rest as they say, is history... But it's yourhistory, together, with all the additions, some subtractions and a few distractions along the way, but what a journey you have and are walking together.
Did I mention you're alucky sod?
😀
Blessings on you all.
