Jigsaw man

Jigsaw man

A Poem by Gee
"

Tis what a good woman can do

"
Just three pieces, kindness, humour, warmth,
convinced her to begin,
to begin in 1991 to assemble,
slowly, carefully, lovingly,
the many, many parts that lay before her.
Gradually over many years
a picture began to take shape.
A picture of a man,
a man given confidence (by her love)
self belief (by her love)
self respect (by her love)
A man that opened his heart to true love,
accepted and adored another man's greatest gift
promising to love, cherish, protect.
A man that became a husband,
a father,
whole,
and eternally grateful that fate had them cross each others paths.
Now, after 28 years of marriage,
the jigsaw gets ever closer to completion,
although every now and again a piece,
a very small piece,
may come slightly loose
and will be pressed firmly, but with love,
back into place by the lady that is his rock, his world, his life.

Hello, Gee! :)
This is lovely. Its a great analogy. My own wife likes to rip me apart and throw me back in the box occasionally, but she always puts me back together eventually.

Morning Matt, cheers.
Women like doing that :))
About to enter our 56th Anninversary, this poem has a similar relevance for me. We met, married 4 months, after , but didn't start a family for 2 years ( which silenced a lot of wagging tongues) and are now grandparents. Now a little unsteady physically, but my 78 year old "starter motor " still manages to kick me into life when necessary.
Norm.

I enjoyed the way you describe a man in this piece, and the time/patience that is needed for a man to become a man. I get a strong feeling of the bond expressed in this poem between husband, and wife.
Great Work =-)

This is an incredible poem, especially since the reviews suggest this is your actual relationship. I was choosing which of your poems to read first and was attracted by the title since I like jigsaws. We are all like jigsaws, mosaics, tapestries ... the work of art / masterpiece cannot be seen in each part, but only when the whole is complete. The three pieces you mention would make this a worthwhile puzzle for many to attempt.

How beautiful that he feels the remaining pieces emerged as a result of her love, but he too played a really important part in the act of opening his heart to true love - not an easy thing for any of us as we tend to protect our soft centres with walls that keep out the best that love has to give.
