Before all is painted white (Autumn)

Before all is painted white (Autumn)

A Poem by Gee
"

A birds eye view!

"
The fading light from wearied sun
silhouettes the ever growing throng,
that line their terracotta perch
in perfect silence, without song.

For they can feel the seasons change
the growing chill in autumns breath
and see their roosts now bright, ablaze
such magnificence in summers death.

Then before all colour painted white
before the bell of winter chimes
as one on wing they take their leave
taking flight to warmer climes.

Have rewritten some of this, 05/10/24, but still feel as though an additional stanza is needed between S2 and S3.

"such magnificence in death," such a paradoxical line. I really enjoy that.

The seasons are about to change once again. Winter draws to an end, and Spring is finally just around the corner, but a good poem like this is timeless.

You're welcome!
Magnificent! I was completely transported into this scene. The feeling of anticipation, of winter coming is woven expertly into this poem. The life and character you gave autumn, the season of death and fire, is breathtaking. Thank You.

Thank you kindly Zoe
Visual to the nth degree, Gee, thoughtful steps beyond the season itself. What you've stressed is that tho life is gradually dying in the great outdoors, it's still amazingly beautiful. Your chat and chit between posts shows a light side bur deep inside and so often displayed are the depths shown in your finely metered phrasing.

So hope all's well for you and your beautiful girls. Take care, keep safe, keep happy.. best can. Please.

This has been the year when days and months have been totally irrelevant.
It's as if the year has been totally cancelled, and we're starting again next year.
Let's hope next year will kick off well, and we get back to reality.

Fingers crossed :)
it fascinates how the leaves fall to nourish and keep the roots warm while trees are sleeping, not dead, though some do die out. Fall and winter are magical as well, I like to enjoy them from inside, not keen on being cold but if you have the right stuff to keep you warm...its amazing have you been snow skiing? I used to go once upon a time in Winter park in Colorado, so much fun, but I have to agree with Chris, spring is still my fav. (And Colorado chili has squash in it????? ugh what's up with that?) I love hows this rhymes so beautifully, such a nice piece.
