We are a mish mash
a melange
a global community of odd bods
of wannabes and has beens
of key board tapping
paper scratching folk
with time to spare
words to share
We self level
form hierarchies
sit ourselves on chosen shelves
book ending these with favourites
with peers who are peerless
and those that are fearless
posting not boasting
ne'er decrying but toasting
if not the quality
then the effort
We are a mish mash
a melange
of like minded
poets...

A poet is a love some thing.. and so is your dedication to the/our melange, a wonderful word and under the circumstances, near perfect. You seem able to pick a word out of a hat and write something special.. or funny.. or so many things. And here you are, not travelling far, have told the Cafe's people just what they're doing here, singly as a whole! How very true. Thank you, Gee, Safety and smiles wished to you and your ladies.

yes,we are like minded...those who are posting here in seriousness. We want to get better at our craft, we want to urge and help others to get better at their craft, but mostly we want to support those who endeavor to write their words to communicate sadness or happiness, rage at current events or whatever might be. The real poets write from the heart, and no matter what level we are...there is one cause...
to express and hopefully make others feel.

Yet there is that one common factor that holds it all together.. Writing.
Where else can you get called a genius and an idiot at the same time? Oh! Just me then?
Like everything in life, it has its faults, but without it I doubt my writing would have improved by itself. (Yes, now is an improvement on then!)
We are a strange bunch, ain't we? 🙄

I particularly like your descriptive title to sum up our poetry community Gee. Yes we all have a great love of poetry in common. In these days of extremes and division it is refreshing to come to this playground where we all share a passion. I love the interaction here. Poetry is not a competition its for sharing and that's why I feel so comfortable here.

I love the playful wordplay here "mish mash melange" . . . "odd bods & wannabes" . . . "sit on chosen shelves" . . . speaking of which, I never thought of myself as being on any particular shelf, but then your poem made me realize I'm not seeing the other shelves becuz I think my shelf is the only shelf! So you got that one utterly correct for those of us with narrow perspectives! Things were more contentious when I first started here 5 years ago, but now I feel much more harmony, even when opposing ideas are discussed. Maybe we should get together & publish a primer on how to get along among the outspoken with myriad viewpoints! One of the most interesting writes I read in cafe. These different ingredients from poets help expand the size of cosmos, a chaotic one. There will be some boasting and decrying, but then again, it's the melange of like minded poets with still different thoughts makes us feel dynamic.
I really love the depiction. It's so positive.
