From Womb to tomb

From Womb to tomb

A Poem by Gee
"

How brief this life

"
How fleeting is this journey
time passes at a pace,
so brief is our existence
as from womb to tomb we race.

No sooner first breath taken
then death it masks the face,
and all that's gained are memories
as from womb to tomb we race.

And with eternal sleep now granted,
into wooden shrouds we're placed
where our dreams will be of all we missed
as from womb to tomb we raced.

Aye it fair clips along just like the ticking clock of our days as our mortal selves slip and slither into old age and finally we separate our quarks and distribute them across space. Nicely paced and rhymed with a touch of ironic humour.

Cheers John..
I'll be 80 in some months
where did it all go
perhaps, after this life, we will have time to relax, sit back and laugh about the dumb things we all did

This is why a moment wasted is moment lost and never to be experienced. Our span is so short, hardly a blink of the creators eye, to waste it is a sin. But that race, oh, that race, how it steals from us if we aren't careful.

A quickie worth reading. In the end, life will have been lived in such a short time. If we could only know this when we're young. Yet, we learn to be indestructible until age catches up with us.

Great writing, Gee.

The rhythm of the piece is so lulling. Limited time is a somber truth. Excellent poem.

I love your quickie as it reflects the quickie we call life! Last evening I watched some documentary about some Everest climb/disaster which felt like just an eyeblink ago . . . at the end, when I saw it was in the early 90's, I got to thinking . . . that was 30 years ago! How did that happen!?!? It felt just like in your poem! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It's been a mild beautiful winter here & I still have plenty of firewood left! *wink! wink!*
dearest Gee... to embrace our destiny... is to enjoy each day with a passion.
We are given a Canvas to brush with colors of beauty where rainbows appear
when we least expect. Eternity can wait at Heavens Gate... as we cross meadows
with wild flowers and sing with the Birds on Mountain Tops. Your poem is a Canvas
of gentle persuasion. truly, Pat
