The mother of all showers

The mother of all showers

A Poem by Gee
"

Rainy days

"
Dark grey pregnant rain clouds
cloak dormant chimney pots,
before birthing onto roof tiles
a million tiny drops,
these making haste, running down
to gutter pipe then drain,
disappearing out of sight
to never be seen again...

Very nicely done! I love the every-other-line rhyme scheme that makes the poem just flow effortlessly. ~Sharon

Well, unless you made a typo and meant billions or trillions Gee, i feel a Monty Python sketch coming on. HA! Bloody luxury 😀
Hoping you are escaping the worst of the constantly leaking, U.K. shaped cloud above us 😀

No rain in the Maldives :))
UK is taking a right old battering.
Hope you are well
A mother that nurses our earth, and one we often bash when talking about rain. This is a refreshing flipped perspective, and one worth reading on the dreary days. I truly admire how you captured so much in this short poem.

Thank you RER, appreciate your kind words
On first reading of this I thought of Dickens. and I still can't rid myself of the Victorian vibe. Which is good I think as is this sooty gem.

Hope you are well and the pooch is recovering :)
What a delightful and utterly visual poem!

Whilst my working life is both hounded and astounded by British weather, your poem is a wee masterpiece. What's more, you've set a mystery which only those who test the composition of their soil will actually answer. Like bees we can't do without rain; like hornets, we can do without floods.

'Grey, pregnant rain clouds - cloak dormant chimney pots, - before birthing .. ' Yes!

One thing I love about winters in this spot is that the soil is sandy/rocky, so after a rain, it's never muddy. The puddles disappear within ten minutes after it stops raining. I love that. But I never thought about where all this downpour goes! I love that you focus on something so simple & yet so mysterious! Excellent details & dynamic descriptions! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

interesting to ponder...all the rain that falls, disappears into the ground or dries up....and the clouds just seem to have a never ending supply.....and then are famines when no rain falls and people and crops die of thirst.
just made me think of that here.
good piece, Gee.
