"You'll never walk alone"

"You'll never walk alone"

A Poem by Gee
"

Mum 04/12/1936 - 09/04/2019...it seems unbelievable that on 21/04/24 it will be the 5th anniversary of mum's cremation

"
The anthem of the Kop, once stirring, uplifting,
now brings sadness, tears
and visions of her small coffin
atop which red and white flowers silently proclaim her name.
Amongst these sits a small brown teddy bear
that once resided on the pillows of her bed.
Bedecked in the colours of her beloved Liverpool FC,
it looks forlornly out at a myriad of tear stained faces,
as if it too is struggling to come to terms with her passing...

"You'll never walk alone" was the song to which mum disappeared behind those curtains.

I am really sorry Gee to hear of your dear Mum's passing. Condolences to you and yours at this difficult time. Of course the anthem of the Cop is well known in this household with the Liverpool contingent. Didn't they do well in the week? Take care.

Ahhhhh.....that mighty and emotional tune!

As i said before Gee, I couldnt have picked a better song myself for such a solemn occasion. I guess it just means that anytime that song is heard from now on, it will take on an extra special meaning for you personally. Given the recent Miracle at Anfield, I am sure your Mum is doing her best to guide the Reds to glory. Let's hope they can do her proud.

Another fine write, my friend. Best wishes to you and yours.

This is such a beautiful expression of how you're feeling. I really envy you the ability to dig down & find those feelings & express them at a time like this. It's very difficult & I admire you for sharing so much personal feeling & understanding with us (((HUGS))) I sang this song as a solo at my eighth-grade graduation, which was only 8 kids or so, graduating from a 4-room schoolhouse & our ceremony was at the old wood-slat grange hall down the road where only about 8 people could fit on the tiny stage. This song brings back a ton of memories for me! Fondly, Margie

Beautiful and heartbreaking words. We can never come to terms with their passing yet all we can do is celebrate them in our hearts. Sending you a hug.

such a loving and wonderful poem for your Mom, Gee... you sent her off righteously, but the loss never truly goes away as things will always remind you of her as she resides in your heart.....

lost both parents within 8 months of each other, mom first and then dad... with mom I learned music and art and theater... with dad it was poetry.... they were together for over 75 years...

You are welcome my dear friend.
Such a poignant write Gee. You take that well loved Liverpool song and inject such pathos as it is played at your mother's cremation. A sad occassion but one which in the words of that iconic Mersyside chant means she will not walk alone. Your poem is a tight, freeverse steeped in powerful symbolism and meaning. RIP
