At gathered pace our passing lives.

At gathered pace our passing lives.

A Poem by Gee
"

How quickly life seems to pass us by.

"
Life travels now at gathered pace
the present oh so fleeting,
memories and yesterday's
tomorrows now are greeting.

Experience a tardy friend
brings maudling regrets,
each dawning day of "might've beens"
and "too late now" sun sets.

The tick and tock of father time
relentless ne'er will wait,
as ruefully we reminisce
with sadness contemplate.

Life travels now at gathered pace
attire oft' sombre worn,
to farewell say by silent graves
as passing life we mourn.

Beautifully done! And oh, so very true. When you reach the age where you go to more funerals than parties you know the sand is running out!

Thank you..
I very much relate to your message & I like the way you've expressed it with realistic descriptions & some nicely-lofty word choices: "the tick and tock of father time" . . . "ruefully we reminisce" . . . Even tho your poem has overtones of sadness, it's not overly depressing, just truthful about this speeding-up of time which we can't avoid! Good job!

'.. each dawning day of "might've beens" and "too late now" sun sets. '

In a way, time takes us prisoner - just as love can. First it chases us, then it overtakes us. Thus and so, we're left wondering why we even left home. Seems your finely laid words say the same, sadly yet sincerely.

Yep, you wake up one day and wonder where all of the year's have gone. Thank you Valentine
Honest and true words my friend.

The lines are true wisdom and at graves of people and things lost. We learn what is important. Thank you Gee for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
Even with this much written about subject, the poem feels fresh and original, and very poignant.

Beautifully written Gee. So true too. They say that time is the only constant, but is it really or is it just our fallibility that makes us think that. The good times are too quick and the sad times linger, doesn't sound too constant to me.
Superb words, flow and feel to this piece, faultless.
