'Tis our fate.......

'Tis our fate.......

A Poem by Gee
"

And then we are no more, dead and buried

"
Then nothing but memories
grief shadows the heart,
flower covered the box
on the old horse drawn cart.

Dark suited the bearers
heads bowed,stepping slow,
resting the passed loved one
before the grieving front row.

Heart wrenching the readings
echoing off the cold stone,
of the old village church
for this love they've all known.

Whose life play now over
the final curtain slow drawn,
here the end of an era
whilst elsewhere new born.

I love the way your rhyme & rhythm suggests the slow methodical steps of a funeral dirge. I love the way you present this as the cycle of life, a hopeful or natural thing. All sentiments deeply felt at the time, good details to convey the mood of the gathering, & yet most will soon be in the back of most minds as they focus on their own tomorrows! Love your creative take on how this goes (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you Margie
Vivid imagery, I could see this unfolding in front of me. Something about horse drawn carts which make funerals more romantic than grief ridden.

This a really neat poem. very complex and I enjoyed reading it very much. Thank you very much for sharing. The ideas of birth and death as well as how real and sad we become in passing.

Its more then okay! It was sad but ended with a little hope. Death is hard but knowing life will keep going make it a tad bet easier. I really loved this poem.

I LOVED the last lines that one life gone another is born.
After the death only memories of us heed the living ones.
Thanks for sharing!
