Sunday Mornings

Sunday Mornings

A Poem by Gee
"

An overview of a typical Sunday morning

"
Clothed in comfort
coffee and toast,
papers and supplements
slow cooking roast.
Pooch getting tetchy
ready for walking,
yesteryear radio
memories talking.
Lawn mowers buzzing
green fingered mums,
kids doing homework
struggling with sums.
D I Y dad's
clueless but willing,
saving a penny
but costing a shilling.
Sunday mornings
played on repeat,
Monday is looming
so put up yer feet.

Sometimes we have to force ourselves to take a rest and put up our feet. The anticipation of diving into Monday is a reverberating, soul-jarring process that one never seems to get used to! And pretty soon it's Monday, looming again. Thanks for sharing. Frederick.

Enjoy your coffee and have a good Sunday before the return to work on Monday. Your lines tell me that you are taking it easy. I am left wondering who is busy with the roast? :) I feel sure you do your bit Gee. Have a great day.

Yep, put ya feet up. Cheers Ellie
Sage advice Sir. That spin of the wheel that brings Mondays round seems to get faster and faster, yet we seem to spend our free time shopping and catching up, forever catching up with everything and all. When I was a kid, Sundays were visiting days, Grans, Aunts and uncles, etc. Me and my brother called it cake day, as we got so much of it from all the visits.
Now, I am happy to give advice, rather than do. Best advice…When asked to mow the lawn, tell them grass is meant to grow, then go make another cuppa 

Hope all is well with you. Thank you.
This poem is terrific. You do such a great job of generating this little microcosm of the world with all its goings on and happenings - such a vivid poem. Thanks for posting!
