What did we give up?

What did we give up?

A Poem by Onatah
"

Do you ever wonder?

"
Did those branches in the days of Adam have thorns? From what would they need protection? And did those branches reach down gracefully in the sight of Adam to deliver it's sweetest fruit to that perfect Image of God? Did he, Adam, a prince given everything, who named the creatures of the earth, ever envy the single fruit denied to him?

With what amount of grace did the serpent roam before it was cursed to crawl on it's belly? How kind was the lion before he became proud and ate his brother en?

Is there anything left of that place? Are there still fruits that resemble those from The Garden? What colors did He take away from the land?

Personally, I believe that the story of Adam and Eve is intended to be symbolic in nature as well as the serpent... But I enjoyed this very much and it certainly arouses mystery and curiosity...

You force the reader to think both critically and creatively... A sure sign of excellent art. Wonderful flow, too.

Wow, this really left me speechless! I haven't really thought too deeply about something like this, but after reading your poem, it did actually make me stop and wonder! You've proposed a lot of interesting questions here, and I like the fact that you've asked these questions, and left options as answers, without fully answering them yourself, leaving the reader to think and come up with their own answers. After reading this, I wondered whether it would've been better if you had lengthened your piece, as I would have really enjoyed reading more of what you had to say. However, perhaps it's brevity was a good thing?
Anyway, I really enjoyed reading this! Very thought-provoking indeed!

Interesting questions. Temptation was born from that serpent. It is interesting to know that the bible never says that Eve was shocked when it spoke to her. That hints that they had had previous contact with this particular serpent that spoke. Makes you wonder what the serpent would have talked about prior to the significance of the fruit of the tree. That is my wondering. How much time and energy would the serpent have invested to make it a comfortable presence and twist their interest?
Seek the answers to those questions.

I don't usually review things that other people have already reviewed, but I make a policy to honour every read request, so here we go.

You raise a few questions that make people think, and then there are a couple ones that don't. Obviously Adam envied the one thing denied to him, otherwise he wouldn't have eaten it! Aside from that, it's an interesting and rather unique look on retrospection.

One thing I would suggest, don't say "Adam" so much. Pronouns are a good thing.

This is beautiful and very thought-provoking. I love your deeply philosophical questions, posed simplistically. This piece feels very original. Keep it up, and don't change your style.

Breathtaking, invites the reader to more. But I seriously wonder if lengthening this write would further enhance it or destroy its beauty....

i wonder about that if there was colors beside what we have now that was taken due to the fall of man. I wonder if there was fruit that is different we would had along side what we have now if the fall didnt take place . hmm i'm curious about that lol.

This one provokes many a thought in the reader's mind... I'm still trying to get past the fact that Cain went out into a barren land, and found people... ? And there is no record of those people... Much is amiss, but we must due and make due best we can with what the good Lord has put here for us to work with. Your pen is such a gift He has given. Thank you for sharing this.
