Tears of a Frozen Paradise

Tears of a Frozen Paradise

A Poem by Onatah

Watch them, fear them, never touch them;
The screaming crystals reaching backwards
The timeless rivers flow anointed.
Confused, misguided, helpless believers;
Chasing never ending gospels.
And while time yields not a strict obedience
Till that crimson flower blossoms
And the horizon paints a living fire.

You cradle the reader in passion, and I'm particularly drawn to the multiple connotations... I say, it's quite amazing that such power can merge from so few words...

'Till that crimson flower blooms
And the horizon paints a living fire'

I see so much more than icicles, whether or not deliberate, your tapestry is selective and a brilliant means of conveying fire and ice in its most symbolic form...

I think this was a nicely written poem. I really liked how you compared icicles to demons...because they could be demons...and you would never know that. I liked this a lot. Imagery is great as well. Thanks for sharing. :)

This poem would go well with a video clip I saw about falling icicles recently. A T.V station in the south had a radio station near their building. Because of the recent snow which blanketed the nation, icicles formed. They fell when it warmed, nearly striking the workers as they rushed to move their cars.

Your word choice is good overall. I especially like what you have created with the lines "The timeless rivers flow anointed." and "Chasing never ending gospels." They are deep and powerful thoughts that add an extra icy chill to this piece.

You are amazing at describing even the most simple of objects. I mean you turned frozen water into a poem of something creative and beautiful! I love your work.
