A human's version of God

A human's version of God

A Poem by Gaurav
"

Let's create this figure then

"
Deep and fascinating
the thought of God
let's create a figure
that doesn't fit our imagination

It that seems to listen
all our prayers
and put a faith in heart
but it will remain hidden
till the end of us

It which is an idea
of progress and creativity
that will be worshiped
in temple and church
in the form of statue

The idea that will get immersed
in the deep shell of subconscious mind
and wars will be fought
or peace will be asked
'in the name of God'

This is how social structure will take form
of permanence

Let's create this figure then

'Omnipresent yet one who can't be seen
has superpowers but with conditions
...conditions that no one can understand
has righteousness and honesty at the core
that who comes to earth
to right the wrongs of men
that who loves good beings
and punishes bad ones
that who rewards in heaven
and punishes in the hell...
heaven and hell..
ideas that will shape the karmas of beings
going forward.'

Let's publish it
Let's speak it
Let's redo it
and let it shape the future of society
for independence of countries is possible and worthy
but independence of mind is not...

I like the creativity you show in painting your idea of God, but I disagree. Some people find it motivating to think of heaven & hell, reward & punishment, as a reason to try to be a better person. But I believe in NOT putting God on some far-away & untouchable pedestal. I see God as an everyday presence in my life just like a friend, hearing my thoughts like prayers & putting ideas in my head as I go along, helping me to find my way & be a better person. Your "Word Monument to God" makes him feel inaccessible, like a judge sitting on high. I know most people think of God that way & your poem is creative to make this into a "let's imagine God" exercise. (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Sad thing about faith really...I always believe such things are within the self, the divine are in us and are us both at once....there is beauty in faith (whatver spiritual path one takes) but the mainstream version of such often becomes something completely different to the true way, sadly. Poignant piece...

yes, we seem to not be able to break the chains in our mind...and sometimes it keeps us all from moving forward...of making ourselves better...
we just go forward without purpose.
It is said that God made man in His image...perhaps we have decided to make God in our image.
and as Joan Osborne sang..."what if God was one of us?"
perhaps he walks among us now and we just don't recognize him...or care to.
