DRAPES

DRAPES

A Poem by Gatlianne

I think one of the most

Degrading

Revolting

Absurd

Questions ever posed me

Was

Does the carpet match the drapes?

From an unknown bartender

Whose name I'm certain I never knew

And me-

With my pink and purple hair

            And fishnet wearing attitude

(Perhaps I was in my punk phase…

or perhaps it was just a punk day…month…year)

told him as I lay half on/half off the bar

Baby there are no drapes

As at the time there were not

(Got in the way of the fishnets)

and watched his eyes ponder that possibility

As I leaned across and kissed him square on the mouth

whispering

            But you'll never really know

                        Before I sauntered away
