Waterfall

Waterfall

A Poem by Gatlianne

WATERFALL

By the house where I used to live
Where anger and love mixed
Inauspiciously
Ran a waterfall
Heard from childhood bedroom
An open window escape that allowed
No place to run
And in midst of night
While water poured over rocks
Tears ran down a child’s face
Who longed to fly from screen-less window
To the away that would not come
So instead she stayed
Having no place to go but her inner world
A self-created sanctuary of fantasy and happiness
A succinct refuge from the truths of life
But truths caught up and
As the waterfall ran in time with tears
Years passed
Memories faded
The child grew to grown
A woman born to solitude
Risen and renewed
A lifetime away from the childhood
Still close with the heart of the child
