Veins

Veins

A Poem by Gatlianne

VEINS

My arms are stained by distrust

Rolling through my veins

Pulsing blue black

Like a bruise

With each ragged heartbeat

A journey of pain back to a heart

That has felt too much

To release

I read this a couple of times. Once straight through, the second time stanza by stanza taking in the beauty of it and the picture it paints. I can almost feel a ragged breath with each stanza. Very powerful. Great work.
