Sarah Known as Lucy

Sarah Known as Lucy

A Poem by Gatlianne

SARAH KNOWN AS LUCY

I knew her years ago
A dark haired girl with deep eyes
Too grown up for her own good
Who lived with a long haired boy
Who wasn’t grown up enough
I looked into those same deep eyes
In a crowded bar full of smoke and music
She smiled and laughed in her new life
Lighter – as though some of the grown
Had washed away

Fate had allowed her to cross my path once more
Though this time
She answered to another name
The same physical being-
But a soul forever changed
Sarah known as Lucy
I knew her years ago-
Before she truly knew herself

Wow this is so lovely! There's so many mixed emotions conjured up in me while reading and rereading this piece. I wonder how many people ever really get to know who they are. Wonderful piece, my friend. Sublime and mysterious.
