Father Knows Best

Father Knows Best

A Poem by Gastroc.
"

cheesy: full of cheese.

"

daddy always said
she'd
do
just fine
with some lucky man
by her side
he will love her
for all her life
but she was destined
for heartbreak
and nights in her
mother's lap
crying too hard
to hear
wasn't something
to shake off
but not many seemed
to care
but daddy always said
she'd
do
just fine
with some lucky man
by her side
he will
love her
for who she is
inside
and out
but angered with
an aching heart
she tried numbing
herself
and love isn't
isn't something
she'd need
but nights alone
grew old
and secure in her
masochism she
laughed
over a man
she'd never even
seen
but needed to meet
and daddy always said
she'd
do
just fine
with some lucky man
by her side
he will love her
for everything she was
and everything she is
and so he did
just so

and the words rang

true
