Dave's Journal Entry 1, world 3647b (the one with the pizza thing that tastes like pineapple)

A Chapter by Gaston

There's this color that is really just the absence of all color. It's kinda like white and black and everything in between. It's too bright and depressingly dull all at the same time. You really only see it in those places where nothing exists, like the beginning of time, in between realities and North Dakota. No matter how many times you see it, it still grates at the eyes. It threatens to melt your brain like the cheese on a bacon cheeseburger from that greasy spoon down the street from work.

I've seen it just a bit too often.

My name is Dave and I'm dead. Well...not really dead, but I did die...sort of. You see...somehow, some way I beat Death. People talk alot about finding ways to "cheat Death" but the thing about cheating is....you cheated...you still lose. You still die. Maybe not then...but eventually.

Thing is...once you actually beat death...you can't die....but you can't live either. You see...each universe (and there are a lot, let me tell you) can only hold so many people at once...so you end up being a sort of inter-dimensional refugee....flitting from one dimension to next at random. Makes it hard to have a meaningful relationship at least.

So...you become extra....that's me...the multiverse's mistake, no matter where I end up, I'm always just an Extra Dave.
