Soldier Beside MeA Poem by Gary McDonald
Vacant pools of encroaching shadow
a burning sea of lies branded truths, by those of obsequious nature who rotted your foundations to rubble with this unneeded form of support, to create a world of fictitious beauty, where you could live alone and free from the fears that truth bestows, so leave to me the rope of return, a final effort to retrieve your soul, from the mystical land that singed your heart, and in mind planted trees of question, for shame be your face, today in tears, in past years you were the soldier beside me, fighting my weighted battle with fists bloodied, to protect the one unworthy of a name so full of love and bond, as brother, I hear the calls tonight, its my turn, to step up and be your saviour. © 2010 Gary McDonaldAuthor's Note
